TÜBİTAK BİLGEM started a study to protect Azerbaijan against quantum computer attacks with the support of NATO SPS program.
TÜBİTAK BİLGEM National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptologyorganized a training program for experts working in important institutions of the Azerbaijan state within the scope of NATO Science for Peace and Security Program (SPS), covering the possible destructive effects of quantum computers on cryptology and the measures to be taken against these effects. Intermediate and Advanced Level Training Program on Post-Quantum Cryptography was held at Baku Hilton Hotel between 5-11 September 2022 with the active participation of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM UEKAE experts and scientists from Turkey's leading universities. With this training, the foundation of projects that will make the communication infrastructure of many important institutions in Azerbaijan cryptographically resistant to quantum computer attacks has been laid.

What is NATO SPS?
NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Committee is the primary NATO committee that promotes hands-on cooperation in civil science and innovation. This new organization creates a program that contributes to NATO's mission by bringing science to the public through projects carried out within well-established procedures. This organization focuses on safety, environmental sustainability and priorities of partner countries. In this context, it provides "Project Support", "Training Support" and "Workshop Support" to member and partner countries.

Advanced Study Courses in Cooperation with TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and NATO SPS
TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and NATO SPS cooperated to organize a one-week course for expert participants in an interactive environment in Azerbaijan to share their knowledge and experience in the field of security. Within the scope of NATO SPS Program, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, within the framework of the training program that promotes dialogue and practical cooperation between Turkey, a NATO member state, and Azerbaijan, a partner country, based on scientific research, technological innovation and information exchange, provided training on protection against quantum attacks to the participants consisting of well-equipped researchers.
