Our national combat aircraft KAAN successfully completed its maiden flight on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. AsTÜBİTAK BİLGEM, we take pride in having undertaken critical roles in the project.
During the inaugural flight, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and TUSAŞ employees worked together as a single team, conducting intensive efforts. We integrated the 5th generation main control computers with integrated modular architecture, developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, with real-time operating systems also developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM. We utilized avionics interfaces and deterministic network infrastructure developed for onboard data transmission.
As TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, we will continue to develop domestic and national computer infrastructures that meet the secure, safe, and high-performance processing and communication needs of our national combat aircraft's mission, flight, and aircraft management systems.
Here are the Systems Developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM for KAAN:
Flight Control and Aircraft Management Computers
Computers that manage engines, flight control surfaces (flaps), and other aircraft systems.
Central Management Computers
5th Generation Integrated Modular Avionics computers that manage onboard main systems and weapon systems, produce displays for avionics indicators and helmet-mounted display units, and ensure the aircraft's cyber security.
Mission Management Computers
Computers that process and manage data from communication, navigation, electro-optical targeting, radar, and electronic warfare systems.
Avionics Interface Units
Units that convert onboard sensor and actuator signals and facilitate communication with systems with legacy interfaces.
Deterministic Network
High-speed optical network that ensures the transport of data with different levels of criticality without affecting each other.
High-Speed Network
Optical network that enables the high-speed transfer of large amounts of sensor data to management computers.
Multi-Core Real-Time Operating System
Operating systems that allow different applications of varying criticality to operate independently and with high performance on all of KAAN's computers.
Middleware
Middleware software that enables communication between all of KAAN's software, performs protocol transformation for sensors and communication interfaces, creates display graphic interfaces, and runs artificial intelligence applications.
EMC Test System
A system that measures and analyzes the compatibility of all electronic systems onboard KAAN.
Antenna Test System (NFRTF)
A system that determines KAAN's geometry and ensures low radar cross-section for the 5th Generation stealth aircraft.
We congratulate the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and TUSAŞ team who worked tirelessly day and night for KAAN's maiden flight! We extend our gratitude to all institutions and stakeholders involved in the inaugural flight process.
