In cooperation with TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and MESS Technology Center MEXT a project was developed to support individuals with physical mobility difficulties to participate in the active workforce. MEXT, the world's largest and most comprehensive digital transformation and competence development center, established under the leadership of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and the Turkish Metal Industrialists' Union (MESS), has started working to provide exoskeleton control by classifying the electroencephalography (EEG) signal collected from the human brain with artificial intelligence-based methods. In this context, it is aimed to design an electromechanical product that will increase the mobility capacity of individuals with mobility difficulties with the data collected from the mechanical exoskeleton used in the smart factory infrastructure under the MEXT roof.
This product, which will enable disadvantaged individuals to participate in the active workforce, is designed in the real production environment offered by MEXT. With the electroencephalography (EEG) method, one of the methods used to measure the activity in the brain, the data during the lifting of different weights with the exoskeletons in the infrastructure opened by MEXT for the project are examined.
EEG data, which paved the way for the development of brain-computer interface (BCI) systems with its non-invasiveness and easy data collection, will be collected in the MEXT production area and converted into commands transferred to the devices in the outside world, that is, wearable technologies called Brain Computer Interface (BBA) systems.
What is MESS Technology Center (MEXT)?
By focusing on social benefit, MESS brings together the industrial and digital transformation, which is the result of the changing world, with the Turkish industry. In this context, MESS has established the MESS Technology Center MEXT, which was designed as a world-class technology center and was implemented to support its members in the digital transformation process created by Industry 4.0. MEXT, which has Turkey's first production facility fully supported by 5G technology, is the world's most advanced and most comprehensive digital transformation and competence center. Under the umbrella of MEXT, MESS implements projects that shape the future with valuable collaborations. MEXT aims to increase the educated workforce and to shed light on the future of production by sharing its global knowledge with all sector employees.
In line with this purpose, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and MEXT, which bring together the world's successful domestic and national technologies under one roof, started to work to pave the way for individuals with physical mobility difficulties to join the workforce.
