The World's Largest Aviation, Space and Technology Festival TEKNOFESTheld in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. TEKNOFEST, which expanded abroad for the first time this year and moved to the international arena, was carried out by the Turkish Technology Team (T3) Foundation, the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The festival, which lasted for four days, was visited by 300 thousand people.
Technologies developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM attracted great attention from visitors
Parallel to the progress of technology, with the development of artificial intelligence and virtual reality phenomenon "Metaverse” The concept of (Virtual Universe) began to enter our lives. We, as TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, chose Metaverse for the main theme of the activities at our stand in order to present our work in this field to our participants and to give them a unique experience. The participants, who created their own avatars with the “Metaverse Avatar Creation Booth” at our booth, took photos with their avatars and took this pleasant experience to their homes.
“Can we feel real-life objects and surfaces by touching relevant images?” A branch of science that aims to technically answer the question “Haptics Technology” debuted at a festival. We have developed the "Texture-Find Screen", which we have created as a result of intensive studies in recent years, as the application area of touch technology. Thanks to this device, the participants, who could feel the surfaces of real objects by touching their pictures, experienced the feeling of touching a real crocodile by touching the back of a crocodile on the screen; They felt the mountains, rivers and plains by touching the physical map of Azerbaijan.
The first teams received their awards from the presidents of the two states.
The winners of the technology competitions held in 10 different categories at the festival held in Baku Crystal Hall and Seaside Boulevard National Park between May 26-29 received their awards from President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Nobel laureate Turkish scientist Prof. Dr. TEKNOFEST, also attended by Aziz Sancar, attracted great attention from Azerbaijanis. TEKNOFEST Chairman of the Board Selçuk Bayraktar, in his closing speech, informed that TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan will be repeated in the coming years.
