The Integrated Sonar System (BOSS) Project aims to fully integrate BOSS, a sonar system to be developed for surface platforms, into the Combat Management System (SYS). Within the scope of the project, BOSS that can operate Monostatic, Bistatic and Multistatic will be developed. BOSS will consist of a Medium Frequency Body Mounted Sonar subsystem and a Towable Low Frequency Sonar (ÇAFSON) simulator.
The main purpose of the project is to ensure the coordinated operation of multiple sonar systems with national resources and to develop the Multistatic Sonar capability, which provides target detection from long distances. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Presidency of Defense Industries, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), Marmara Research Center (MAM) and Meteksan Defense. Within the scope of the project, Bistatic/Multistatic Sonar, ÇAFSON, BOSS Simulators, multistatic sonar performance modeling, console, SYS alignment, target motion analysis, data recording, system management and classification software are developed. In addition, the Digital Underwater Telephone within the scope of the project is being developed under the responsibility of the institution.
The BOSS Project is an important step to increase the underwater activities of surface platforms and to contribute to the acquisition of national capabilities in the field of maritime security. This project is an example of Turkey's efforts to develop domestic and national technologies in the defense industry.
