Within the scope of the ATCTRSIM (ATC Area Control and Approach / Road Control Radar Simulator Phase 1) R&D Project, which was produced within the scope of the cooperation between TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and the State Airports Authority (DHMI), a simulator was developed for Air Traffic Control basic, refresher, induction and advanced training and Air Traffic Management (ATM) R&D studies. As a continuation of the project, two new projects, ATCTRSIM-2 and Istanbul ATCTRSIM, were initiated. Within the scope of ATCTRSIM-2 (ATC Area Control and Approach / Road Control Radar Simulator Phase 2) R&D Project, the system developed in the ATCTRSIM Project will be installed in the simulator and training facilities at DHMI Esenboğa Airport. Within the scope of the Istanbul ATCTRSIM (Istanbul Atatürk Airport ATCTRSIM installation) R&D Project, the ATCTRSIM system will be developed according to the new requirements and the system will be installed at Istanbul Atatürk Airport in order to be used in the design and operational use of the Istanbul Airport approach airspace and terminal area, as well as in the orientation activities of the air traffic controllers who will take part before the airport opens.
